When one considers life in Omaha, images of chic urban haunts with the scenic peaks of a downtown skyline dotting the periphery might not be first to come to mind, but for our latest People of hutch featured customer, Debbie Sinopoli, that’s exactly her Omaha reality. Occupying a multi-level townhome in the Rows at SoMa, she is situated at the heartbeat of Omaha’s bustling Old Market District, with the built-in city-life reprieve of her sequestered rooftop deck.
Omaha isn’t Debbie’s primary home base. As a master franchise owner with Jani-King – a commercial cleaning company – she has several residences across the Midwest to accommodate frequent travels overseeing her businesses. But she’s lived part-time in Omaha since the opening of Jani-King of Omaha in 2007, and just this year made the move to her new home at SoMa.
In her own words, she chose SoMa “for multiple reasons, the proximately to downtown with the restaurants and shopping, the open concept but modern feeling, the views from the roof top deck and more importantly, the garage which allows me to bring my dogs when traveling.”
Hi puppies!!!
Everybody meet Shilo and Aspen, arguably SoMa's cutest canine residents – a Chocolate Lab and Lab/Austalian Shepherd mix, respectively!
Having previously lived in a condo without her own outdoor space Debbie didn’t have the ability to bring Shilo and Aspen along. She purchased her new home at SoMa so now “the girls can travel with me and have a place to stay when I work in Omaha.”
While the modernist aesthetic may not be her main design inclination, she felt her downtown townhouse seemed to call for a different tone. That’s why she chose hutch, specifically our co-owner, Nick, to outfit her main living areas. Featuring simple clean-lined seating in a neutral color palette, her home embodies a contemporary vibe while still feeling warm and inviting.
Primarily outfitted with pieces from one of our favorite vendors, Gus* – everything in her living room from the smooth Velvet Rust Adelaide sofa, to the rustic-meets-modern Lodge leather accent chair, and matching set of Danforth chairs, can all be found at hutch.
And our cozy Zuri rug from Jaipur Living grounds the whole look, happily meeting Shilo and Aspen's comfort seal of approval.
Debbie loves all of her furniture from hutch, but if hard-pressed to pick a favorite it would be those Danforth chairs. The styling is a modern take on the traditional wingback chair, with the surprise comfort of a plush arm chair.
Because the dining room is open to the rest of the space, Nick chose pieces that relate well with the living room, bridging the modern/traditional gap. Six Cambridge dining chairs and two stately wingback chairs from Dovetail surround the contemporary Soho Walnut Dining Table from Modloft.
But the real draw is that outdoor rooftop deck. Located right off her third floor landing, with magnificent views of the downtown skyline, it's Debbie's favorite place to unwind and enjoy her downtime in Omaha.
And with views like this, we totally get it!
What a thrill to get to get a peek at the urban life in Downtown Omaha with Shilo, Aspen, and their oh so thoughtful owner! Thanks so much, Debbie, for sharing your home – and what home means to you:
